William Shakespeare’s ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ remains a significant text in a post-modern world, where the prosecutions of Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein have shed fresh light onto gender inequality and sexual abuse. I have taught this text many times and have used these specific resources (revised in 2021) to lead my teaching in the classroom, as distance learning materials/homework assignments and even as tools of revision – all have worked well for the students.
This beautifully engaging PowerPoint lessons each include a starter activity, summary and analysis questions, an academic writing task, an extension task, theme tracking questions, a homework assignment and a plenary. Also included, ‘An Introduction to the Text’ lesson and a ‘Half-Term Assessment – Guided Essay Writing’ lesson. These are complete resources (approximately 2-3 hours teaching time per lesson) that require no additional labour from the teacher. Enjoy!
