A series of 4 lessons exploring geographical aspects of the Euro 2024 football competition. All lessons includes a powerpoint with teacher advice, suggested answers and teaching tips in the comments section at the bottom. The worksheets which require printing are either in the powerpoint or separate. All materials are editable so they can be adjusted if needed. There are also pdf resources of material suggested to be shared with the students to help them to complete the tasks.
Lesson 15A – is football success related to wealth. Students create scattergraphs, add a line of best fit and analyse using sentence structures/starters. Reasons for the patterns are then discussed.
Lesson 15B – Where are the most successful nations located in Europe? Students construct a choropleth map and analyse it for patterns and ultimately discuss where England might be better located to be more successful in future tournaments.
Lesson 15C – The lesson focuses on the host cities and reasons for their choice. Students create proportional circles on a map and then compare it to a map of population density.
Lesson 15D – What makes a successful footballing nation? Students discuss the ideal recipe for a successful nation then create top trump cards for a selection of countries from a table of data.
