Several decision algorithms having different solutions and techniques have being proposed [3-5] now days to locate fault on multi terminal transmission system. The one of the most important disquiet for the power utilities is power transmission line protection. The faults on transmission line need to be detected, classified, located and should be cleared as fast as possible to keep the healthy section of the system in normal operation. In transmission line protection, fault phase identification and location of fault are the two most important items which need to be addressed in a reliable and accurate manner. The relaying decision and auto reclosing requirements depend on identification and classification of fault on transmission line. This paper presents a ro -Wavelet approach for multi terminal transmission system protection scheme. Better performance and accuracy have been achieved by using Global positioning system (GPS) based algorithms.

The need of developing innovative methods for transmission line protection made use of Wavelet Multi Resolution Analysis for detection, classification and location of faults on transmission lines. Detail D1 coefficients of current signals using Bior1.5 wavelets are used to detect, classify and location of fault.

This is one of the beneficial efficient method for fault detection, classification and location using multi resolution based wavelet transform , which is almost independent of fault impedance, fault location and fault inception angle of multi terminal transmission line fault currents.
