Most kids love Minecraft, so I figured why not use this interest to encourage them to practice their literacy?

1 page of text detailing the history of how Minecraft was developed, broken up into bitesize chunks I.e. ‘Fun Facts’ followed by a page of comprehension questions and 1 page of teacher answers.

Aimed at KS1/KS2 pupils, home educated and/or SEN pupils, but could also be used for older pupils who need to strengthen/practice their reading skills. Very little handwriting required (except for the odd word), pupils are required to circle/underline/colour/draw to demonstrate their understanding of the text.

PDF pack of literacy resources that covers National Curriculum KS1 objectives (but based on a topic that could also be of interest to slightly older learners).

Perfect for homeschooling, as a homework project, to supplement other classroom learning, to use with SEN pupils, those with gaps in their KS1/KS2 knowledge or those who would simply benefit from a re-cap.

I am a homeschooling mum of a 7 year old child with Asperger’s (and a range of other SEN), as well as a former secondary school/SEN teacher. He responds well to project-based learning and so I figured others might benefit from this approach too! I am only just getting started with selling my resources so I would be very grateful for any feedback.

  • Minecraft Comprehension

Great resource to start our home school lesson, simple but interesting facts, just enough reading and a nice layout.
