Fractions – what are they? This resource is an introduction to fractions, aiming to explain them at a basic level, in a few ways that may be relatable to children in a concrete sense. It uses simple shapes, common objects, and avoids complex language.
The resource goes over what fractions are, some common simple fractions are, how to read fractions and what they mean, a little introduction to fraction simplification, and ends with some examples of exercises to complete.
This resource can be used either in the classroom, or at home with children. The pack includes both a colour-backed version for dyslexia-friendly viewing, and a reduced-colour version for those who want to print the resources using black & white printers. The pack includes 2 powerpoint presentations and 2 pdf files, all of which are 24 pages long.
