Daily Routine for Home Learning During School Closures COVID-19

Getting structure into your day when your children are at learning from home is no easy task. For those parents who are seeking to give their pupils a daily routine which keeps them in the right mindset for learning, we’ve created a timetable below.

Note: this is not meant to replace learning materials set by teachers, just a way to compliment them.

Daily Learning Opportunities and Activities

9:00am

Joe Wicks, otherwise know as The Body Coach rose to fame as a popular fitness coach, TV presenter and author.

To encourage children to keep moving and stay healthy during school closures, he is hosting a free workout LIVE on his YouTube channel at 9am, Monday to Friday.

10:00am

Carol Vorderman has been very active in the education scene after leaving Countdown.

She has a whole host of books and has recently granted free access to her Maths Factor website which includes lively videos and games to embed learning.

11:00am

David Walliams will be releasing a free audio story from 11am, every day, for the next 30 days in a bid to provide entertainment for children currently unable to go to school.

If you wanted some follow-up activities, you can also find activities related to his hugely popular children’s books on his website under the activities tab.

12:00am

Home learning isn’t just about trying to replicate learning done at school, it’s also the perfect time with your children teaching them valuable life skills.

Schools rarely have the facilities nor the staffing to allow pupils to experiment in the kitchen. Jamie Oliver helps you to teach your children how to cook with his child-friendly recipes.

1:00pm

Maddie Moate is a British television presenter and YouTube filmmaker most known for presenting the CBeebies series Maddie’s Do You Know?

She is uploading daily Science videos every weekday from her spare room whilst schools are closed. They are all based around a weekly theme which is great for block learning.

2:00pm

Strictly Come Dancing star, Oti Mabuse, streams dance classes for children to her Facebook, Instagram and YouTube acconts at 11:30am every day.

However, the classes are also saved onto Mabuse’s YouTube page after the livestream has finished, so they can still be enjoyed even if you aren’t available at the exact start time.

Non-daily Learning Opportunities and Activities

While Bear Grylls normally loves the great outdoors, he’s recently teamed up with the Scouts to pull together some inspired indoor activity ideas to keep kids entertained while schools are closed due to coronavirus.

There are hundreds of free, hands on activities for all ages which serve as a productive and meaningful break from the norm whilst children are at home.

Pie Corbett is a huge name in education. He is an educational trainer, writer, author and poet who has written over two hundred books. He is also known for promoting creative approaches in the classroom and has experience as a teacher, head teacher and Ofsted inspector.

He hosts a daily radio show at 9:30am with interactive activities available on his website to keep everyone busy and engaged.

Classic FM presenter, singer and pianist Myleene Klass has started teaching online music lessons from home.

Featuring her daughters Ava and Hero, her ‘Music Klass’ is designed to be as inclusive as possible and air every Monday and Friday.

Steve Backshall is delivering live question and answer sessions every Wednesday at 9:30am.

There are also a multitude of videos from his Deadly 60 series here along with a range of quizzes and advice on how we can better look after the planet.

TV presenter Dan Snow has a History Hit streaming service which allows you to access a huge range of History documentaries.

Whilst this is not completely free, it can be accessed for free for 30 days, and the following month for a pound, as part of special offer. There’s also a free podcast too.
