This assembly script tells the story of Diwali in the form of a rhyming couplet poem. It is designed to be both engaging and educational for a class of 30 children. Each child has a role, whether as a narrator, character, or part of a group reenacting key scenes from the Diwali story.
The poem covers the return of Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana to Ayodhya, their triumph over evil, and the lighting of lamps to celebrate goodness. Characters include Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Hanuman, Ravana, and villagers. Some children form a chorus to chant key lines in unison, while others play parts to enhance the storytelling. The rhymes are simple yet catchy, making the story memorable for young audiences.
This tried and tested script has been thoroughly enjoyed by my school, as it creatively introduces the children to Diwali while encouraging participation and teamwork.
