This no-prep Writing Practice lesson, “Direct and Indirect Description” is the first in my series of twenty-five Writing Practice lessons. I’ve used this activity with hundreds of students both in school and as a Writing teacher. Students enjoy learning how to “show” rather than simply “tell” as they practice the process of writing descriptions that promote reader engagement.
This lesson, like all my lessons, is made to be accessible to students by giving them the opportunity to practice their skills in the context of their own abilities and needs.
