Halloween Online Escape Game (EFL/ESL) – Genially

The Darkwood family manor hasn’t seen any visitors for a long time. Why? Rumours say that the place is haunted. Dark shadows flickering behind the windows, strange whispers, music coming from the foyer… People say something terrible happened there a long time ago, which is why everyone gives the place a wide berth. Well, not everyone. Equipped with only your paranormal activity detector and your knowledge, can you overcome all the challenges, free the ghost trapped in the manor and find out what exactly happened to the Darkwood family?

This is an interactive online escape game made in Genially, focusing on the topic of Halloween. It was created for use in the EFL/ESL classroom and is aimed at secondary school pupils (age 12-15).

The tasks include: vocabulary activities, questions about the traditions and history of Halloween, activities with verbs, phrases and collocations connected to Halloween.

The activities in the game include:

1. Gallery: matching words to pictures, choose the correct picture, puzzles and choose the correct option
2. Dining room: true or false, matching parts of sentences, fill in the missing letters
3. Bedroom: find the correct verb to finish the phrase, reading comprehension, fill in the missing word
4. Attic: memory game, hangman, sorting words into categories
