This no-prep Personal Narrative lesson, “An Interesting Place” is the first in my series of twenty-five Creative Writing Lessons. I’ve used this activity with hundreds of students both in school and as a Writing teacher. Even reluctant writers like this lesson as they all seem to enjoy thinking and writing about places that are special to them. The lesson includes an illustration, simple instructions, an original mentor text and an optional rubric.
This lesson, like all my lessons, is made to be accessible to students by giving them the opportunity to practice their skills in the context of their own abilities and needs.
