This is the Pattern and Sequence Making Activity in my Building Blocks collection of skill building resources. These activities are divided into four age range categories, but don’t let that limit you! Many of these overlap and can be used with a wider variety of ages than listed. For the young learners, I have activities for 2–3-year-olds. Next up are activities for 3–4-year-olds. Then, 4–5-year-olds and we top it off with activities for 5–6-year-olds. The hope is that by the time your child is bound for Kindergarten, they will have an abundance of skills “under their belt” and they’re ready for school!

This activity focuses on helping your child make different patterns and sequences. I have included several blank pages throughout so you and your child can make your own patterns. If you do this activity at home, you can continue the pattern off the paper in front of and behind the pattern I have created on the page. If you do this activity in the car, you can also do that, but I recommend you use clear contact paper to laminate the pages together (but make them foldable) and use velcro squares.

These activities can be placed in clear plastic sleeves and used in a 3-ring binder for rainy day activities and road trips, or daily use! All you need to assemble these activities are scissors and some Velcro squares. If you plan to use these on road trips, it is recommended that you put the Velcro squares on the outside of the clear plastic sleeves. You can add in some zip-loc bags to store the pieces, so they don’t get lost when not in use.
