This is the Animal Descriptions Activity in my Building Blocks collection of skill-building resources. These activities are divided into four age range categories, but don’t let that limit you! Many of these overlap and can be used with a wider variety of ages than listed. For the young learners, I have activities for 2–3-year-olds. Next up are activities for 3–4-year-olds. Then, 4–5-year-olds and we top it off with activities for 5–6-year-olds. The hope is that by the time your child is bound for Kindergarten, they will have an abundance of skills “under their belt” and they’re ready for school!
This activity focuses on helping children learn the adjectives to use when describing animals. There are over 90 different animals (3 to a page) for your child to describe. I’ve included all kinds of descriptors from land, sea and air to feathers, scales, fur, and beyond. Does the animal have 2 legs, 4 legs or no legs at all? The descriptions are almost endless!
These activities can be placed in clear plastic sleeves and used in a 3-ring binder for rainy day activities and road trips, or daily use! All you need to assemble these activities are scissors, and some Velcro squares. If you plan to use these on road trips, it is recommended that you put the Velcro squares on the outside of the clear plastic sleeves. You can add in some zip-loc bags to store the pieces, so they don’t get lost when not in use.
